This Week in Star Citizen - August 3, 2026

Hello everyone, xē'suelen nyahyan. This week in Star Citizen opens with Foundation Festival 2956 already underway, celebrating the community that keeps the 'verse humming along. Running through August 12, this year's festival includes a Referral Bonus, Twitch Drops, and Guide System rewards for players helping new pilots find their space legs.

If you have been looking for a good time to bring a friend aboard, the accompanying Free Fly runs through August 10, while the refreshed Welcome Hub is aimed at giving new Citizens a cleaner path into their first adventures among the stars. A sensible idea, really, because even the most heroic first flight can become an expensive cloud of debris without a little guidance.

Ship Showdown 2956 has also entered its first phase, launching the race for Best in Show. You can rally behind your favorite ships and vehicles by creating content and highlighting them on the Community Hub, helping them secure a spot in the Top 16 before the duel bracket begins later this month. CIG is also running a contest with a chance to win an L-22 Alpha Wolf.

Alpha 4.10 development continued in the PTU, with all waves opened last weekend. CIG thanked players testing the new Siege of Orison experience, the Arlington Lever Action Rifle, Recco Battaglia's latest contracts, and Instancing. Feedback threads on Spectrum and a social survey remain part of the testing push.

A new Roadmap Update also committed the feature lineup for Alpha 4.10, as CIG continues refining Recco Battaglia's narrative experience and the supporting Instancing tech.

Coming Up This Week

On Tuesday, Subscribers can expect the August Subscriber Comm-Link and Newsletter, with CIG teasing some purr-fect exclusive content.

On Wednesday, Star Citizen Live returns with a special two-hour live developer commentary focused on Siege of Orison, a permanent PvE addition to the Persistent Universe arriving in Alpha 4.10. The developers will play through the operation at 4pm UTC and discuss what players can expect later this month.

The July 2026 PU Monthly Report is also planned for Wednesday, offering a behind-the-scenes look at progress across CIG's teams as development continues on upcoming releases and the road ahead.
