Item Recovery in Star Citizen 4.11: What Comes First
Waiting for better item recovery in Star Citizen? Here’s what Alpha 4.11 is set to change—and which ship-loadout improvements still need more time.
Recovering equipment should be easier to navigate in Alpha 4.11, but the wider changes to ship-loadout recovery still need more work. The immediate plan is a refreshed interface for the existing freight-elevator claim system, aimed at making individual-item recovery clearer and more intuitive.
That distinction matters if you have been waiting for the ship-recovery overhaul before changing your loadout. In a 22 October developer reply, Nicou separated the interface refresh from work on ship loadouts, expedite fees and timed claims. The roadmap card is due to be revised at the next update; the reply gives no replacement delivery date for that broader work.
What is planned for 4.11?
The confirmed intention here is a UI refresh, rather than confirmation that every proposed recovery feature will arrive together. It is still a development plan, not a change already available on Live.
The original question asked how the game would identify losses outside a player’s control. That remains unanswered: the reply does not explain detection criteria or promise that a particular crash, lost item or destroyed ship will qualify.
Looking after your loadout in the meantime
For the current game, ship claims and individual-item recovery are different jobs. At ASOP, a claim produces a replacement ship. Custom loadout insurance uses the last insured configuration, so newly fitted equipment should not be assumed to be covered automatically.
Before replacing a hull, check whether you are dealing with a destroyed ship or a retrieval fault. A location change or a documented terminal workaround may be more appropriate than a claim. Cargo remaining aboard the old hull also deserves a check before it is scrapped.
Our ship recovery guide covers ASOP claims, insured loadouts and bricked ships, with the practical steps kept separate from these forthcoming changes.
