This Week in Star Citizen: August 17, 2026
CIG’s August 17 update points pilots towards Alpha 4.10 PTU stress tests, Ship Showdown 2956 Phase 2 and gamescom in Cologne, with the official weekly schedule.
The week opens with CIG trying to turn PTU miles into Live stability. In the August 17 update, the studio says Alpha 4.10 remains in the PTU, with player participation helping as the team works through remaining issues.
There is movement on the horizon too. The official update points to a recent Roadmap Update with 11 new cards tentatively planned for Alpha 4.11, Ship Showdown 2956 Phase 2, focused stress tests and the next Bar Citizen stop at gamescom in Cologne.
Roadmap and Alpha 4.10 PTU
According to the official update, last week’s Roadmap Update gave players a first look at 11 new cards tentatively planned for Alpha 4.11, including Nyx I, Starchitect, Planet Tech v5, new weapons and more. CIG also points players to the Release View for the full list of what is currently in the works.
CIG thanked everyone who has recently entered the Alpha 4.10 PTU, saying participation has been helpful while the team works through the remaining issues. The studio says it is eager to get Alpha 4.10 onto the Live servers.
The update also asks players to watch Spectrum, as CIG intends to host a few focused stress tests this week ahead of the Live release. CIG says the patch was intentionally held back to give the team more time to address key issues and improve performance, with the goal of delivering a noticeably smoother experience when it arrives and building on that progress with each patch that follows.
Bar Citizen, gamescom and Ship Showdown
CIG also thanked players who attended Bar Citizen Denver over the weekend. The update notes that the team connected with attendees and sampled Quantum Rye, a custom brew crafted specifically for the event.
Next, CIG says it is crossing the Atlantic for gamescom in Cologne, Germany, on August 28.
Ship Showdown Phase 2 begins on Tuesday, August 18. Following Phase 1, the Top 16 are set to face off from August 18 through September 2, with two ships matched each day. The official update says players will decide who moves forward in the bracket and can earn an exclusive Spectrum badge by voting along the way.
On Wednesday, CIG is tentatively planning the start of focused stress tests, with more information expected on Spectrum. On Friday, the latest RSI Weekly Newsletter is scheduled to land.
