Alpha 4.8.1 expands Stanton and Pyro combat contracts, Alpha 4.9 takes shape on the roadmap, and International Bar Citizen Weekend arrives June 13.
xē'suelen nyahyan, pilots. This week’s Star Citizen roundup looks back at Alpha 4.8.1, checks in on broader development progress, and points you toward a packed slate that includes the Gatac Railen, the June Monthly Bundle, and International Bar Citizen Weekend.
Alpha 4.8.1 landed last week, expanding the ongoing conflict across Stanton and Pyro with new ship combat contracts. You can now rally behind either Foxwell Enforcement or the Headhunters as battles continue to unfold across the system, with successful pilots able to earn a variety of rewards, including unique blueprints available through these contracts for the first time.
Alpha 4.8.1 and its related maintenance also brought a range of fixes and improvements, with more work still underway. The team has been reviewing player feedback and reports while continuing to work through remaining issues, with additional updates to be shared as soon as possible.
CIG also published the May 2026 Monthly Report, covering progress across mission content, narrative development, social features, and ship production. Ships called out include the Railen, Kraken, Liberator, Galaxy, and a few other surprises, alongside ongoing work on AI, stability, the economy, and core technologies.
Alpha 4.9 is starting to take shape on the Roadmap Update, with seven recently revealed cards offering an early look at what’s ahead. The additions include Siege of Orison, Instancing, Super Heavy Combat Armor and its Apocalypse Arms 'Vendetta' HMG, Combat Clothing, the return of Recco Battaglia, and more. Quite the shopping list, assuming your shopping list usually comes with armor plating and a deeply unsubtle machine gun.
What’s Coming Up This Week
Tuesday brings the June Monthly Bundle. With Alien Week approaching, this month’s package is positioned as a lead-in to next week’s celebrations.
Thursday sees Behind the Ships return with a closer look at the first alien cargo ship heading to the Persistent Universe: the Gatac Railen. The vehicle team will walk through the ship’s evolution, the challenges of bringing its distinctive design to life, and how years of technological and gameplay advancements helped shape the final result.

Saturday marks International Bar Citizen Weekend. On June 13, communities around the world will gather to meet fellow Citizens, share stories from the ’verse, chat with members of the team, and pick up the exclusive Shattered Vanduul Lance Display for a little extra personal-hangar flair.
CIG specifically calls out Manchester, Montréal, Austin, and Frankfurt as gathering points, with the team looking forward to raising a glass with the community.
