Alpha 4.7: Welcome to the Rock

Alpha 4.7: Welcome to the Rock

Star Citizen Alpha 4.7 is live — and it lands with purpose. Titled Welcome to the Rock, this update isn't just another content drop. It introduces Operation Breaker Stations as a full multi-stage industrial mission loop, brings Crafting T0 to the live servers for the very first time, and ships a long-overdue overhaul to the inventory system. For players who've been waiting for Star Citizen's economy and industrial gameplay to click together into something meaningful, this is the patch that starts making that case.

Explore and Restore: Operation Breaker Stations

Deep in the Keeger Belt, in the outer reaches of the Nyx system, sit the QV Breaker Stations — colossal asteroid-cracking facilities abandoned long ago and left to gather dust, their rock-splitting power lying completely dormant. Alpha 4.7 puts them front and centre.

Operation Breaker Stations is a new multi-stage mission in which players restore a derelict asteroid mining facility, fire a colossal laser array deep into the rock, and descend into the asteroid itself to extract what's inside. It's the kind of mission loop Star Citizen does at its best: layered, demanding, and genuinely satisfying when a crew pulls it off.

Players can acquire Exclusive rights for a private run or Shared rights, which allow other groups into the same station simultaneously, opening the door to PvP encounters. The mission is fully replayable.

Survey Before You Strike

Abandoned stations don't give up their secrets easily. Getting inside requires a careful approach — scan your surroundings, find the maintenance access points, and keep your eyes open as you move through sprawling caverns and derelict equipment. Loot and items of interest are scattered throughout, but so are dangers.

Bring a Full Crew

This isn't a solo operation. Miners, haulers, crafters, and fighters all have a role here. You restore power, reboot station systems, mine resources, fabricate components, align refractors, move critical hardware across the facility, and fire a massive laser at the end of it all. Every specialisation on your crew becomes an asset. Success depends on coordination across all of them.

Restore to Conquer

To reach the real prize — the mineral wealth locked inside the asteroid — you first have to wake the station back up. Scan each sector for essential equipment, restore power to dormant systems, and reboot operations piece by piece. You need at least 12 Sadaryx total to complete the objective, because each lens takes 4 Sadaryx and you need 3 lenses. Once the laser fires, the rock opens up, and the real extraction begins.

Meanwhile, Back in the 'Verse

While your crew is making for Nyx, two major additions have landed across the broader sandbox that will shape how you operate long after the Rock has been cracked.

Crafting is Here

Crafting T0 marks the first step in what Cloud Imperium Games plans to be a deep, long-term crafting system for Star Citizen. Players can now craft FPS weapons and armor using earnable blueprints, with material quality directly shaping the stats of the finished item. Any item with a blueprint can also be dismantled for materials.

Blueprints are earned through contracts — including those tied directly to Operation Breaker Stations — and the rare minerals you recover from the Rock have immediate crafting value from day one. This isn't a standalone bench activity either. Miners gather raw materials. Salvagers recover rare components. Refiners improve material quality. Haulers move goods where they are needed. Mercenaries and combat specialists protect those operations or hunt down valuable blueprints. Crafting T0 is connective tissue between professions, and that's what makes it genuinely exciting even at this early stage.

A dedicated Crafting Gameplay Guide has been published alongside the patch for players who want the full breakdown.

Improved Inventory

Managing your haul just got considerably easier. The inventory system has been fully redesigned to make managing and equipping items significantly faster and more intuitive. The improved look and feel surfaces quality information more clearly, makes looting cleaner in the field, and gives you better control over your loadout when you're moving between contracts. Given how much gear moves through a typical Breaker Station run, this upgrade is immediately practical.

Alpha 4.7 is available now on the live servers.

The Rock is waiting.
