This Week in Star Citizen - August 25, 2025

Howdy space cowpokes, Billy Bob here. Last week was busier than a mule in a mosquito swamp — Bar Citizens, Ship Showdown fireworks, racing finals, and even a proper in-game convention. Recent Updates

Ship Showdown Phase 2 kicked into gear, with votes flyin’ faster than a Cutlass runnin’ blockades. Every ballot between now and September 2 helps decide the people’s champ, and tomorrow the annual Ship Showdown Free Fly begins, lettin’ everyone hop into the Elite Eight ships for free test flights. Perfect chance to try before you cheer.

We also had a special Star Citizen Live episode where Vehicle Director John Crewe and Vehicle Art Director Ben Curtis fielded ship-related questions, including chatter about the brand-new Kruger L-21 Wolf. If you missed it, it’s worth sittin’ down with a cold drink and watchin’.

On the community side, ATMO Esports wrapped up their Gravity Rush Finals with racers tearin’ the dirt like wild stallions. Meanwhile, Operation: ASD Defection pulled in over 230 players from 14 orgs for massive coordinated missions and three simultaneous space battles. Finally, the Industry and Trade Expo 2955 welcomed more than 600 attendees, with three expo halls, 50+ ships, tours, and activities. Felt just like a county fair in space. And outside the ‘verse, the team met fans at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, capping things off with Bar Citizens at Brauhaus ohne Namen and Brauwelt.

Maintenance & Technical Updates

This Wednesday, the Roadmap Update drops, detailin’ what’s comin’ in Alpha 4.3.1. Roadmap Roundup will ride shotgun with it, explainin’ the dev priorities. Think of it like checkin’ your tractor engine before the big harvest — keeps you knowin’ what’s workin’ and what needs fixin’.

Industry and Trade Expo 2955

Hosted by Knebel and the Starhead Federation, this expo was one for the books: 600 attendees, 50+ ships, three expo halls, guided tours, and special activities. Think interstellar county fair but with more quantum drives on display. A full video recap will hit YouTube soon, but for now you can check pictures on the Community Hub.
