Hangar
What to know
Hangars are instanced locations where any player can access an ASOP terminal and a freight elevator to retrieve, store or customize their ships and vehicles. Players need to be within a group to enter each others hangar. Key sections include Hangar services, Personal hangars, and Public hangars.

Hangar services
At one end of small, medium, large hangars, and at both ends of extra large hangars are hangar services that provide access to the hangars ASOP terminal and two storage access kiosks, as well as the exit and entry elevators.
Personal hangars
Personal hangars, also known as persistent hangars, are only available at the players home residence chosen at character creation. Personal hangars can be decorated and furnished, any customization inside a personal hangar is saved to Long Term Persistence.
Public hangars
Hangars that are not at the players home residence are a public hangar that allow for the same functionality but can not be customized.
If the player attempts to spawn a ship that exceeds the size of their personal hangar an appropriate public hangar will be assigned.
Ship hangars
Some ships possess their own hangars, capable of holding other ships (often called parasite craft). Unlike their full sized counterparts these do not provide access to an ASOP terminal or storage access kiosks and aren't instanced.
As of Alpha 4.8.0, Ship Hangar Services T0 have been added, granting various ships (not only those with dedicated hangars) support to refuel, rearm, and repair other ships and vehicles inside them.
The table below lists all ships currently in-game that have internal hangars and their sizes.

QV Planet Services
QV Planet Services is a former mining company that built and operated hangar infrastructure on its own account. These infrastructures were later abandoned and taken over by different factions.
These hangars fall into two categories:
Asteroid hangars, which form caves within mined asteroids: Levski and People's service stations
Space station hangars: fully artificial, integrated in the company's space stations: QV services Stations.
Development
- Alpha 3.23.0: In-game personal and instanced public hangars were introduced.
- Alpha 3.24.0: Freight elevators were added to hangars with the physicalisation of cargo
Trivia
The word hangar comes from Middle French hanghart ("enclosure near a house"), of Germanic origin, from Frankish *haimgard ("home-enclosure", "fence around a group of houses"), from *haim ("home, village, hamlet") and gard ("yard"). The term, gard, comes from the Old Norse garðr ("enclosure, garden").
