Ancient Empire / Careful Neighbors

Xi'an Empire

The Xi’an are a long-lived reptilian species with one of the most advanced empires in known space. Their civilization is organized around noble Houses, imperial service, and a careful way of thinking that values patience over impulse. After centuries of tension with Humanity, the Xi’an now stand as cautious allies, trading partners, and one of the most influential alien powers in the Star Citizen universe.

Chapter 01 / Where caution began

Race shaped by survival

The Xi'an began on RyiXy'an, a warm, tropical world where early Xi'an were not always at the top of the food chain. They learned to watch, wait, and survive through restraint. That instinct still runs through their culture.

Then came the Great Divide. The civil war between the Great Houses left RyiXy'an uninhabitable and forced the survivors to start again. The capital moved to Ka'ua, and the Empire became more than a government. It became a safeguard against repeating the same disaster.

So when Humanity reached Xi'an space in 2530, it did not meet a young frontier species. It met an old civilization with formal manners, long memory, and very little patience for reckless expansion.

Chapter 02 / House, duty, and time

A society shaped by duty

For the Xi'an, a House is not just a family. It is a home, a career path, a political identity, and a promise of support. Each House serves a defined role in the Empire, which gives its members a clear place in society.

Imperial Service keeps that system from becoming too narrow. Between youth and full adulthood, Xi'an serve in the bureaucracy or military, where they are taught to think beyond their own House. Many return home afterward. Some stay in service for life.

Their long lives change the pace of everything. Art, politics, business, and diplomacy all move slowly by Human standards. That can feel distant, even cold. To the Xi'an, it is common sense. A decision made today may still matter centuries from now.

Biology

Xi'an are reptiloid and exothermic. They can slow their metabolism, which helps with endurance, focus, and long-distance travel.

Li'tova

Li'tova is the moral center of Xi'an life. It asks them to consider not just what they do, but what their actions may become over time.

Modern exchange

Trust remains measured, but trade and technology agreements have made cooperation between Humans and Xi'an increasingly normal.

Chapter 03 / Learning to share a border

Peace did not come quickly

For a long time, Humanity and the Xi'an treated each other as threats. The Messer regime used fear of the Xi'an to strengthen its own power, while both sides carried out covert operations along a border that felt one mistake away from war.

Peace did not erase that history. It simply gave both sides a better choice. The Akari agreement, the Perry Line settlement, and later trade initiatives created reasons to talk, trade, and cooperate. The Xi'an are still cautious, but they are no longer distant strangers. They are neighbors, rivals, and partners in a future neither side can shape alone.
