Two events are dropping into the 'verse this week, and the timing means there's something for every kind of pilot. Ship Showdown 2956 opens its nomination phase on Tuesday the 28th, while Foundation Festival ignites on Wednesday the 29th, bringing with it a Free Fly, festival-themed rewards, Twitch Drops, and refreshed onboarding tools for new arrivals. The devs are also pushing additional hotfixes to Alpha 4.9 this week, some as early as Monday, targeting connectivity problems reported the prior week. Meanwhile, Alpha 4.10 is already turning laps on the PTU in Wave 1, with more waves to follow as the build tightens up.

Ship Showdown 2956: The Nominations Open

The arena is open. Ship Showdown 2956 kicks off Phase 1 on Tuesday the 28th, pitting flyable and drivable vehicles against one another in a community-driven bracket. Phase 1 is all about getting your favourite into the Top 16, and the means are deliberately broad: screenshots, songs, machinimas, or whatever creative spark you can muster all count. There's even an incentive beyond bragging rights, with the possibility of taking home a ship for backing the right contender. Further details were set to arrive on the 28th itself.

Foundation Festival: Celebrating the Community That Builds the 'Verse

Foundation Festival launches Wednesday the 29th, framed as a celebration of the welcoming culture that makes the Star Citizen community tick. Veterans and rookies both get something out of it. The event includes festival-themed in-game rewards, Twitch Drops, a Free Fly for anyone wanting to dip a toe in the atmosphere, and updates to both the Welcome Hub and the Guide System, giving newer pilots better handholds when learning the ropes. Alpha 4.9 Fixes and 4.10 on the PTU

The development team is rolling out additional fixes to Alpha 4.9 this week, with some patches targeting Monday itself pending a clean build. Several of those fixes address connectivity issues that surfaced for players in the prior week. In parallel, Alpha 4.10 is already in active PTU testing at Wave 1, with the team working to open access to further waves as feedback sharpens the build.
