This Week in Star Citizen: Vara, Roadmap and Tech Q&A - 19 October 2026
Vara festivities start Wednesday, the roadmap returns and Friday brings a technology Q&A. Here’s what to catch this week—and which reward deadline is confirmed.
Stanton’s working week is about to take a spooky turn. Day of the Vara festivities begin on Wednesday, 21 October, sharing the calendar with a fresh roadmap update. Friday then brings the Technical Directors into the next episode of 10 From the Community, while Discovery Month gives pilots a reason to keep hauling, fighting and salvaging between announcements.
Wednesday: Vara festivities and the roadmap
The 2956 celebration starts on 21 October, with a contest, prizes and further seasonal content promised. The full contest rules and prize list have not been released yet.
That launch date is separate from the holiday’s place in the fiction. Day of the Vara falls on 27 October in the UEE calendar. If you want the story behind the costumes, our Day of the Vara history follows the lost exploration ship and the mystery around Hades. This week’s festivities bring that tradition back into the community calendar.
Wednesday also brings a Roadmap Update and its accompanying Roundup, giving us the next look at changes to the development schedule. The new entries and any revised targets will be available with that update.
Friday puts the Technical Directors on camera
The second 10 From the Community episode is scheduled for 23 October and focuses on technology. The Technical Directors are taking the questions this time, following the earlier episode on missions, Maelstrom and other development topics.
A separate call for questions is already open for a later episode about FPS gameplay. Weapons, combat mechanics, movement and AI are among the areas being invited for discussion. The FPS discussion will be a later episode, separate from Friday’s technology programme.
Discovery Month: keep the rewards and deadlines separate
The 19 October update confirms Discovery Month is still running. Defense, Transport and Collection missions contribute to progression, with earned equipment and paint rewards kept permanently. Completing the specifically named Constellation Rental Offer mission instead provides five days with the Centaurus. The rental is not a permanent ship reward.
Our Discovery Month guide covers the mission tracks and rental. Its event-date guidance has been updated: the current official event page and FAQ do not specify a gameplay closing date, so the earlier 20 October deadline should not be treated as confirmed.

There is a confirmed deadline for the accompanying Twitch Drops campaign: 27 October. Four hours watching Drops-enabled Star Citizen streams unlock the Phoenix Insignia Display. That viewing deadline does not establish when the in-game mission event ends.
The broad service outage from 11 October is also over: RSI resolved it on 13 October, and the Persistent Universe showed operational at our 20 October check. Individual mission and terminal faults can still occur. A green service status is not a promise that every contract will complete without trouble.
For now, Wednesday is the day to check back for the Halloween festivities, and Friday is the date for the developer discussion. If you are spending the intervening evenings in Stanton, the Discovery Month reward tracks still offer a reason to bring the crew together.
