What to know
The Onyx Facility is an abandoned underground research site in the Stanton System built by Associated Sciences & Development. Since its abandonment the facility has commonly been targeted by scavengers, despite the highly hazardous environment within created by the facility's decay.

Exterior
The facility is located in remote areas with the only direct access being provided by mission quantum markers. The exterior footprint of the facilities is small, only consisting of two large sized hangars and a central structure. The only access to the facility is being provided by the large sized hangars.
Lobby
The lobby has a large defective elevator at its center with a reception desk in front of it and the facilities ASOP terminals and hangar access elevators further in front of it. To the left of the central elevator is access to Sector A, while the right provides access to Sector B.
Behind the central elevator is access to the lobbies med station which provides access to 3 T1 medbeds that allow the treatment of T1 injuries.
Engineering (Sector A)
Engineering contains the power core and associated support facilities. Engineering is divided into 4 areas:
Entrance area
The entrance area is separated from the rest of the sector by a series of stalagmites on the primary walkway with an alternate route to the left through a cave.
Condensers
The condensers are situated in a large open structure with pipes leading away down towards the entrance area. Support facilities are situated to the left and right, with an exit elevator being in the left area and a control room to the right.
Fuel reactor
The fuel reactor is directly connected to the power core over a series of rings with a storage area to the left of it. Behind the storage area is a damaged path to a horizontal elevator that leads to the power core.
Power core
The power core is a large dome with an anomaly at its center that sends out radiation pulses every 30 seconds. Around the anomaly are 3 large struts labelled Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, with 6 platforms on the exterior walls of the dome. On the opposite side of the anomaly is a shielded exit door.
Research (Sector B)
Research contains the facilities laboratories for the testing of alien technologies and gravitational anomalies, and xenobiological research on humans and animals, as well as access to Site-B.
Research consists of 9 sub-levels:
Exit level (sub-level 1)
The exit level contains a lobby elevator and access to Site-B, it is only accessible through the main elevator at the bottom of the atrium on sub-level 9.
Personnel only (sub-levels 2 & 3)
These levels are inaccessible.
Reception (sub-level 4)
The reception contains two reception desks with 2 elevator shafts, one of which is sealed on this level, that provide access to the other floors by jumping down.
Operations (sub-level 5)
Operations contains a series of offices and provides access to a drop shaft accessible from all floors except sub-level 8 on which is a lobby access elevator.
Xenotech & Energy lab (sub-level 6)
The Xenotechnology & Energy lab are located on sub-level 6.
Xenotechnology contains a Vanduul Blade suspended in an atrium that extends down to sub-level 7, attached to the Blade is a bio processing unit. Left of the blade on sub-level 6 is a stairwell B that provides access to floors 8 and 9.
The Energy lab contains a gravitational anomaly similar to that in the power core albeit substantially smaller.
Data processing (sub-level 7)
Data processing contains a series of servers at the bottom of the atrium in xenotechnology and an office with a server room towards the drop shaft.
Medical lab and animal testing (sub-level 8)
The Medical lab contains a series of cloning pods and offices for research staff.
Animal testing contains a series of Kopion pens, who have long escaped and are now roaming the lower 2 levels of research, offices, and testing facilities.
Central atrium (sub-level 9)
The central atrium contains the elevator that provides access to the exit level on sub-level 1.
Site-B
Site-B contains research and support facilities for experimentation on alien specimen. Site-B consists of 3 distinct areas all located in a large cave:
Entrance area
The entrance area contains a set of doors which a larger room located in the first chamber, to the right of which is a small security office. At the end of the entrance area is a large cargo elevator that leads down to the main chamber.
Cargo inspection and transit
Cargo inspection and transit is located in the main chamber of the cave with the inspection structure built into the wall of the cave. A horizontal cargo elevator is situated to the left of it, which leads to the Site-B main building.
Main building
The main building is a larger structure built into the walls of the cave.
Beyond the main entrance is a continuation of the horizontal cargo mover that leads to a security checkpoint. When turning left of the checkpoint a series of stairs leads up to the facilities lobby which provides access to the project hyperion laboratories and storage area.
Project Hyperion has a cargo and disposal area connected to the labs antechamber for the transportation and disposal of specimens.
The lab area has an antechamber for the storage of alien specimen, followed by reagent storage for the experiment. At the end of the section is the experimentation chamber with the specimen. Access to the control area is provided by an elevator and a ladder to the right and left of the experimentation chamber.
Spoiler 1
The specimen attached to the machine is a disfigured Vanduul.
