CCU Selector Upgraded — Standalone Ships, LTI Savings & Smarter Chains

Upgrade smarter in the ’Verse. The Impound’s CCU Selector now shows Direct, cheapest CCU Chains, and Standalone CCU’d ships (incl. LTI), and flags when you’ll save credits—or when you can keep your current ship for just a little more.

CCU Selector Upgraded — Standalone Ships, LTI Savings & Smarter Chains

Out beyond the comm relays—between the ship you fly and the ship you dream about—there’s a tangle of jump points, war stories, and price tags. That’s where our CCU Selector lives. It’s your little nav computer for upgrades in Star Citizen: point it at your Upgrade From and Upgrade To, and it charts a clean path through the maze.

Today, that nav computer got an upgrade of its own.

We taught it to spot Standalone CCU’d ships—complete ships with LTI or 10 Years insurance—and to let you know when the smarter move is to buy the ship outright instead of nudging along with a CCU. Either way, you’re in control—and your hangar stays yours.

What changed aboard the Selector

It sees more routes than ever.
Direct Upgrades? Still there. CCU Chains that find the cheapest path? Absolutely. But now, alongside those routes, the tool also surfaces Standalone CCU’d options for your target ship—LTI and 10 Years variants—right where you’re already making the decision. No scavenger hunt; just the good options, lined up.

It watches your wallet—and your fleet.
Once you choose your From and To, the Selector weighs the cheapest of Direct vs Chain against the cheapest Standalone (we favor LTI when it’s on the table). If the standalone route saves you credits, you’ll see it loud and clear. And if the standalone is only a sliver more, it’ll say so—because sometimes keeping your original ship is worth a couple extra bucks and a smile every time you open your hangar.

It’s one click from idea to action.
Found a chain you like? Add the whole thing to cart in a single click. Saw the right Standalone variant? Add that one instead. No spreadsheets. No juggling tabs. Just fly.

It travels well.
We tightened the mobile layout with compact icon buttons and cleaner spacing. Whether you’re browsing from a pad at Port Tressler or half-asleep at a refuel kiosk, the flow stays smooth.

How this helps your hangar (and your stories)

Every pilot upgrades differently. Some of you thread needle-fine chains to shave every credit; some of you want the clean certainty of LTI on a ship you’ll grow old with. The Selector now speaks both languages:

  • Save where it counts. When there’s a cheaper way to reach that dream ship, you’ll see it instantly.

  • Keep what matters. If staying attached to your current ride is worth a few dollars more, the tool will say so—and let you keep the story you’ve been flying.

  • Choose with clarity. Direct, Chain, or Standalone—three clear paths in one place. Pick the one that fits your budget, your timeline, and your heart.

Hangar-side FAQ

What is CCU chaining (in plain pilot)?
Think of it as plotting several short hops instead of one long burn. A chain of smaller upgrades can land you at the same destination for fewer credits—and the Selector charts that path automatically.

When should I go Standalone instead of CCU?
If keeping your original ride matters to you—or you’re hunting LTI—Standalone is often the happier story. That's why we provide the savings banner to let you know whether you will save or whether its just a few bucks more to retain your original ship as well as obtaining the new one.

What’s special about LTI?
It’s the calm in a storm. Lifetime Insurance means fewer worries when things go sideways, and it tends to hold value. If LTI exists for your target, the Selector prefers it when comparing Standalone prices.

Is this all piles of math and menus?
We do the math so you don’t have to. You see the routes, the prices, and a clear nudge when one path makes more sense. One click adds the whole chain—or the exact Standalone variant—to your cart.

Does it work well on mobile?
Yep. We tuned the layout for small screens and big thumbs. Plot routes in line at the spaceport café without breaking stride.

Can I still just buy a direct CCU?
Of course. If a straight shot fits your plan, take it. The Selector simply makes the alternatives obvious, so you always know when you’re saving—or when you’re keeping a ship that means something.

We built this for the best crew in the ’Verse. Thanks for letting us be part of your upgrade stories—your fleets, your first landings, your “one day, I’ll fly that.” Keep the feedback coming, and we’ll keep tuning the tools that get you there.

See you around the ’Verse. o7
