The Impound summary

What to know

The ARGO ATLS is a powered cargo-handling suit for places where a handheld tractor tool is not enough and a full vehicle is too large. Its integrated tractor beam gives one operator precise control over containers up to 32 SCU.

The missing link in cargo handling

ATLS stands for Assisted Transport and Loading System. ARGO built this powered exoframe to move heavy containers safely in hangars, cargo decks, and other tight work areas where conventional loading vehicles are impractical.

Heavy cargo, human-sized control

The suit does not carry cargo itself. It gives a single operator the stability, reach, and tractor control needed to lift, stack, and place large containers with far more confidence than a handheld tool allows.

Development note: The ATLS is flight ready and entered the live game in Alpha 3.24.1. Because Star Citizen remains in active development, specifications, features, and imagery may change over time.

One operator at work in the ATLS

The powered frame supports the operator, the tractor beam takes the weight, and fine control makes it possible to align large containers with cargo grids, lifts, and narrow ship entrances.

Handles containers up to 32 SCU

The assisted frame and tractor system can manipulate containers up to 32 SCU, covering loads that are far beyond manual handling.

Grid-free stacking

The tractor system can stack containers without relying on a cargo grid, which is useful while organizing a hold or staging freight for loading.

Precise placement

Fine control helps the operator align containers with lifts, cargo grids, and ship entrances instead of simply dragging them into the general area.

Assisted exoframe

The powered frame supports the operator's strength and stability, reducing the strain and risk involved in handling heavy freight.

Stable lifting stance

The powered frame supports the operator while the tractor beam moves the load, keeping heavy handling controlled inside a human-sized footprint.

Direct operator feedback

The ATLS lets one person see the load and feel the assisted frame's response throughout the movement.

The ATLS tractor beam at work

A purpose-built tractor beam on the right arm lets the operator take hold of cargo without carrying a separate tool.

Capacity Up to 32 SCU

The tractor-assisted frame can manipulate containers far beyond the practical limit of manual cargo handling.

Control Place, do not merely drag

Fine movement gives the operator the accuracy needed for cargo grids, lifts, and narrow ship entrances.

Footprint Works where a loader cannot

Its compact body fits inside cargo spaces that would be difficult or impossible for a conventional vehicle.

Moving a container

The work cycle stays simple: one person controls the suit, the tractor beam, and the final placement, even when the container is too large for a handheld tool.

  1. Step into the exoframe

The operator takes direct control of the suit and checks that the work area is clear around the container.

  2. Take hold with the tractor beam

Acquire the container cleanly and confirm there is room to move it without clipping nearby cargo or equipment.

  3. Align the load precisely

Use the assisted frame and fine tractor control to line the container up with a grid, lift, or ship entrance.

  4. Clear the area for the next lift

Set the container down securely, release it, and move straight to the next load without changing vehicles or tools.

ATLS work cycle in detail

Its compact footprint, direct controls, and grid-free stacking are all aimed at the same job: moving heavy freight accurately in spaces where a conventional loader would get in the way.

01 Works in tight cargo spaces

Its human-sized footprint lets the ATLS work inside hangars and cargo bays that cannot accommodate a conventional loading vehicle.

02 One operator, one loading system

One person can step into the frame, collect a container, and position it without handing control between a driver and a separate tractor operator.

03 Compact footprint

At 1.8 metres long and 2 metres wide, the ATLS takes up little floor space when stored between loading jobs.

04 Shipboard cargo support

The suit is sized for regular use around freight ships, helping crews turn awkward loading spaces into practical working areas.

One operator handles heavy cargo

The ATLS keeps the person doing the loading in direct control of the suit and tractor beam, without introducing a separate driver or full-size vehicle.

Built around one operator

The exoframe supports the user's strength and stability while leaving placement decisions in human hands. Clear sightlines and a tidy work area remain essential around large containers.

Control One person controls every step

The same operator acquires, moves, aligns, and releases the container, avoiding extra transfers during a busy loading job.

Safety Keep the work area clear

Heavy cargo still needs room to move, so nearby crew should stay outside the swing and placement path.

Storage Park it close to the cargo bay

The compact suit can remain near the loading area without taking up the floor space of a conventional cargo vehicle.
