This Week in Star Citizen - June 1, 2026

CIG outlines the June 1 week in Star Citizen, including Alpha 4.8 hotfixes, June 2 maintenance, the Alpha 4.8.1 target, Roadmap updates, and the weekly content schedule.

DefenseCon 2956 has closed its doors at the Bevic Convention Center, and CIG says this year’s event became the largest DefenseCon to date. Whether you joined in-game, tuned in on Twitch, or made the pilgrimage to a Bar Citizen, the turnout also helped set a new all-time in-game concurrency record for the project. Not bad for a week that probably made the servers sweat through their flight suits.

CIG also followed up on issues affecting Alpha 4.8. Since the previous update, a number of hotfixes have been deployed targeting docking failures at certain stations, ship-claim and Starmap issues, missing pledge items, and more. Teams are continuing to work through player reports, with additional fixes currently in testing, and CIG is continuing to lean on Issue Council and Spectrum reports to help track problems and move fixes faster.

This week brings two planned maintenance windows covering both bug fixes and new additions. The RSI Platform and Star Citizen Live Service enter maintenance on Tuesday, June 2, starting at 08:15 UTC. Matchmaking will be disabled at that time so players can safely exit the environment before RSI Platform maintenance begins at 09:00 UTC. The downtime is not expected to exceed four hours, with updates planned through the RSI Status Page.

CIG is also targeting a Live Service maintenance window on Wednesday, June 3, to deploy Alpha 4.8.1. The update currently includes more than 30 fixes and additions, with more to follow, and is also expected to bring a range of new contracts to the live servers.

Beyond the maintenance deck, June is starting with a splash of color through the Show Us Your Colors celebration. Alien Week is also approaching, and International Bar Citizen Weekend is right around the corner, with events planned near CIG studios around the globe. Several team members also attended the Netherlands Bar Citizen last Friday alongside TwitchCon Rotterdam, with CIG thanking the organizers and attendees for the in-person gathering.

This Week in the ’Verse

On Tuesday, scheduled maintenance will cause downtime across multiple Platform systems. The maintenance begins at 08:15 UTC and is expected not to exceed 4 hours. During this timeframe, the Website, Spectrum, the Game Launcher, and the Issue Council will be unavailable.

This maintenance will impact:

  • All RSI Website services
  • All gameplay systems
  • Launcher operations
  • Issue Council

Tuesday also brings the June Subscriber Comm-Link and June Subscriber Newsletter.

On Wednesday, CIG is aiming to release Alpha 4.8.1 to the live servers, bringing another round of fixes and updates alongside a range of new contracts. A Live Service Maintenance window is also being targeted, with more details expected closer to the day.

The Roadmap Update and Roadmap Roundup are also planned for Wednesday, alongside the May PU Monthly Report.

Friday rounds out the week with the RSI Weekly Newsletter landing in your inbox.
