This Week in Star Citizen - May 25, 2026 | DefenseCon Finale

Happy Tuesday, pilots. CIG opens this week with an acknowledgement of ongoing Alpha 4.8 issues that many of you have been reporting, including problems tied to contracts, the Starmap, ships, services, and more.

The team has been actively tracking those reports over the last several days, with several fixes already moving through testing and validation and additional hotfixes planned. More rollout information will continue to be shared on Spectrum as fixes progress. CIG also thanked everyone submitting reports and reproduction steps through the Issue Council, since that visibility helps the team identify and prioritize problems faster. The glamorous life of spaceflight: half quantum trails, half bug reports.

Looking back, DefenseCon 2956 kept the week busy with reveals and updates. On Monday, the MISC Starlite arrived in the ’verse, opening the refueling profession to a broader crowd. Wednesday followed with the Aegis Tiburon going straight to flyable, and the community quickly began putting it through its paces. CIG points pilots toward the Q&A for full details on both ships.

DefenseCon also brought the reveal of the Anvil Odin, the massive battlecruiser currently looming over Area18. The reveal sparked plenty of community questions, leading to a dedicated Star Citizen Live Q&A focused entirely on the Odin, now available on YouTube.

The Free Fly is also underway, giving rookie pilots a chance to jump in. The Referral Bonus remains active too: if you refer a player, you’ll earn a Drake Dragonfly with Coalfire paint, while the referred player receives a DefenseCon Gear Pack.

Twitch Drops are live as well. Watch any Drops Enabled Star Citizen stream for four hours to earn the Tailwind Murray Cup Set, which includes a helmet and flight suit. Just make sure your Twitch and RSI accounts are linked before tuning in.

Finally, the Everyday Heroes contest is in its last stretch. CIG is asking players to show an act of heroism, grit, or selflessness in the ’verse and post a screenshot to the Community Hub before entries close on May 27 at 20:00 UTC for a chance to win a Tobii Eye Tracker 5 and some of DefenseCon’s newest ships.

Here’s What’s Ahead This Week

On Tuesday, DefenseCon enters its finale. Every manufacturer has returned to the show floor for the final two days, giving you one last chance to check out every ship, every rental, every weapon, and everything else DefenseCon 2956 has to offer. The event wraps up May 27, so anyone still needing time at the Bevic Convention Center still has a narrow window to make the pilgrimage.

Friday brings the latest RSI Weekly Newsletter straight to inboxes. If you are not already signed up, you can do that through your RSI account settings.

The Bar Citizen world tour also continues on Friday. Sandi Roberts and Jarad Huckaby, joined by Freyja Vanadis from the Community Team, are heading to TwitchCon Rotterdam as part of the ongoing Bar Citizen World Tour.

On Saturday, the ATMO esports Gravity Rush tournament returns with Groups 3 and 4. The competition is heating up, and this round determines who punches a ticket to the Semi-finals and Finals in June. Races kick off at 18:00 UTC.
