This Week in Star Citizen: May 4, 2026 Schedule, Alpha 4.8, and Bar Citizen
CIG outlines the week ahead with Roadmap updates, the April PU Monthly Report, an Alpha 4.8 Inside Star Citizen episode, and Bar Citizen stops in Seoul and Paris.
The first week of May is shaping up like a busy traffic lane over Area18, with CIG teeing up a mix of roadmap updates, Alpha 4.8 coverage, and more Bar Citizen stops around the world. The biggest headline hanging over it all is DefenseCon 2956, which begins May 14 at the Bevic Convention Center in Area18, ArcCorp. CIG says the expo will be the place to check out manufacturers and test-drive what catches your eye, so if you’ve been planning your next hangar mistake, there are worse excuses to visit ArcCorp.
CIG also looked back at the latest Bar Citizen stop in Xi’an, China, where attendees spent the day with Q&As, clay ship sculpting, F8C coloring, community booths, and RC STV racing. An event-wide ARG tied the day together with a story about UEE and Xi’an cooperation, with XenoThreat complicating matters as usual, and it ultimately led to a tease of something new from Origin Jumpworks.
The post also marked a handoff on the community side. Travis, known to many players as Big T-O, introduced himself as Star Citizen’s new Community Manager after six years on the Concierge team. He’ll be active on Spectrum and on X as @TheBigTO.

Tuesday brings May’s Subscriber Comm-Link and Newsletter, along with the latest Subscriber flair.
Wednesday delivers the newest Roadmap Update and Roadmap Roundup, plus an Org Spotlight Comm-Link focused on recruiting organizations across the ’verse. CIG also plans to publish the April PU Monthly Report, covering what development teams worked on last month.
Thursday features a new episode of Inside Star Citizen focused on Alpha 4.8, including new features, improvements, and other elements shaping the next major update.
Friday brings the weekly RSI Newsletter and the Star Citizen Vehicles & Gameplay Q&A recorded at the Xi’an Bar Citizen, which will be released for everyone.
Saturday keeps the Bar Citizen tour moving with events in Seoul, South Korea, and Paris, France.
