Aegis Dynamics is a human spacecraft and spacecraft component manufacturer based on Cestulus in the Davien system. It built a majority of the military ships used by the United Empire of Earth (UEE) during the Messer Era and became synonymous with the regime. After the fall of the Messers, it lost most of its military contracts and was nearly bankrupted, but it recovered on the strength of a civilian Retaliator and today manufactures both civilian and military ships.

History
Aegis Dynamics was founded from a merger between Earth-based Aegis Macrocomputing and Davien-based Dynamic Production Systems, with the explicit goal of constructing naval spacecraft. The company was favored by Ivar Messer and rose to prominence during the First Tevarin War. During the Messer Era, Aegis ships became synonymous with the regime.
Under Hannah Chan, CEO from 2643 to 2708, Aegis developed the Javelin-class, and Chan used her relationship with Imperator Illyana Messer VI to secure further contracts. Aegis also established the "diamond laminate standard" for cockpits, improving spacecraft safety.
After the fall of the Imperator, Aegis lost most of its military contracts amid public backlash over its association with the Messers. Facing layoffs and restructuring, and relegated to producing parts, the company was nearly bankrupted. Its fortunes turned with the debut of a civilian Retaliator, which exceeded sales expectations and staved off bankruptcy. The company has since softened its image and focused on civilian variants in its current-generation designs.
Today, Aegis Dynamics is a major manufacturer of both military and civilian ships. The older Retaliator bombers have been repurposed as deep-space transport and hauling vessels, and the Idris frigate (named after the battle of Idris IV) has been demilitarized for private ownership, though pirate groups have been known to acquire them.
Although manufactured by MISC, the Starfarer Gemini is sold under the Aegis Dynamics brand.
