Genly Engineering Solutions
What to know
Genly Engineering Solutions was the codename for a classified Messer-era project to develop a new line of powerful combat systems for the Messer government. The project was led by engineer Juliet Maupin and produced prototypes for a ballistic Gatling gun and a mass driver before the work was abandoned. The recovered prototypes later inspired the founding of the weapons manufacturer Apocalypse Arms.

History
After leading the team responsible for the 2783 revamped Retaliators as a lead engineer at Aegis Dynamics, Juliet Maupin was introduced to Sylvain Evans, a high-ranking member of the UEE military. Evans enlisted Maupin for a classified project to produce a new line of powerful and advanced combat systems for the Messer government. Maupin accepted the position to design weapons with the freedom that government funding provided.
In 2790, Linton Messer XI believed his Empire was crumbling under the strain of the Xi'an cold war and the emergent Vanduul threat abroad and growing revolutionary unrest at home, and he sought a strategic advantage in the form of more powerful weapons. Evans provided Maupin with a high-tech lab and a capable team in a nondescript building in Newcastle, Magnus. To keep the work secret, the project was given the codename Genly Engineering Solutions in honor of Maupin's young son. Building on the work she had done at Aegis, Maupin developed prototypes for a ballistic Gatling gun and a mass driver.
In 2792, the military collected the prototypes intending to ship them to Kilian for testing. During the journey, footage of the Massacre of Garron II leaked to the public and the entire UEE military was mobilized to quell the rebellion. The crate containing the weapons was offloaded into a Cestulus warehouse and forgotten. It was rediscovered well over a century later by Dalton Colabello, whose investigation into the prototypes' origin eventually led him to found Apocalypse Arms.
