Star Citizen VR: Snap Turning Planned, Scope Lock Proposed

Snap turning, a sight-lock toggle and a more customisable visor are being planned for Star Citizen’s experimental VR support. Find out what could change in the headset and which zoom settings you can already adjust in-game.

Star Citizen’s experimental VR support has more movement options ahead of it, including snap turning, alongside a planned sight-lock toggle and further visor work. VR developer Silvan-CIG outlined the plans in three replies on 12 October 2026, without assigning them to a patch or release date.

A toggle for the sight, with its input still open

Silvan-CIG said he would add a toggle to lock the sight, then suggested the alternative scope mode using Shift plus right-click. That mode could lock the sight on demand, leaving normal behaviour available otherwise. The input was offered for player feedback; it is not a new keybind to use on Live, and its final binding and behaviour remain open.

For players adjusting VR zoom today, Alpha 4.10.2 Live already has a separate system that narrows the field of view. It applies to F interaction zoom, ship aiming down sights and precision targeting, and FPS weapon scopes. This is an interim approach while fully physicalised scopes remain in development.

The current Zoom Gameplay Strength setting reduces that effect when lowered; setting it to zero disables VR zoom. That adjustment is available in build 4.10.2-LIVE.12881860 and does not depend on the proposed sight-lock mode.

Snap turning and a more adjustable visor

Snap turning is among the additional locomotion settings planned for VR. Silvan-CIG described a broader ambition to offer the options familiar from other VR games, without setting out a complete list.

The visor is also on the development list. Making it more customisable and easier to use is the aim, although Silvan-CIG described the work as substantial and something to tackle when the team gets to it.

For the earlier controls and launcher setup, our Star Citizen VR controls guide covers the experimental system through the October PTU. Its zoom section predates the Live release; the 4.10.2 Live behaviour described above is the current reference for this update.
