Foundation Festival 2026 Runs July 29–August 10

Foundation Festival 2026 ran from July 29 through August 10, opening Star Citizen to new and returning players with a five-ship Free Fly, a refreshed Welcome Hub, Guide System improvements, Twitch Drops and a limited referral bonus.

The event was built around a sensible idea: Star Citizen is easier to learn when an experienced pilot is there to explain why the hangar doors matter before the insurance claim does. CIG paired free access with tools and rewards intended to connect new players with the wider community.

Five Ships Were Available in the Free Fly

Players could try the Drake Cutter, RSI Aurora Mk II, Drake Golem, Crusader Intrepid and RSI Salvation without buying a game package. The selection covered starter transport, combat, mining and salvage roles, giving newcomers a broader introduction than a single cockpit could provide.

Guide System and Welcome Hub Improvements

CIG used the festival to promote a refreshed Guide System with improved notifications and RSI Launcher integration. The aim was to make it easier for players to arrange guided sessions and for experienced pilots to help newcomers learn specific parts of the game.

The Welcome Hub was also redesigned as a central starting point for resources and guides. It is a useful complement to hands-on guidance, particularly for players deciding which gameplay loop to try first.

Twitch Drops and Referral Rewards

Participating Star Citizen streams offered Twitch Drops that included a new Argo ATLS paint and the returning Banu Lockbox Replica. These rewards were tied to the official Twitch Drops campaign rather than the Free Fly itself.
