Gladius Valiant Guide, Specs & Features
The Impound summary

What to know

The Gladius Valiant keeps the speed and agility of Aegis' classic light fighter, then adds a tailored weapon package and a unique Masters of Flight livery. It remains quick and responsive, but survival depends on avoiding damage rather than trying to absorb it.

The Gladius, tuned to honour a fighter ace

The Valiant is a special-edition Gladius created for the Masters of Flight series in tribute to pilot Condi Hillard. Its unique livery and dogfighting loadout are the reasons to choose this version; the small personal storage shared with other light fighters is not its defining feature.

A special edition with a tactical point

This is still the familiar single-seat Gladius: fast, nimble, and easy to place in a fight. The Valiant package changes its visual identity and gives the pilot a ready-made set of guns and missiles for close combat.

Development note: The Gladius Valiant is flight ready and entered the live game in Alpha 2.6.0. Because Star Citizen remains in active development, specifications, features, and imagery may change over time.

The Valiant dogfighting package

The special livery gives the Valiant its identity, while the tailored guns and missiles give that identity a tactical point. Speed remains its best defense, because the light airframe is not built to absorb sustained fire.

Masters of Flight package

The Valiant was created as part of the Masters of Flight series and pairs a commemorative identity with equipment chosen for dogfighting.

Tailored dogfighting loadout

Its factory weapon package is built around fast fighter engagements, giving the pilot a focused starting point without changing the Gladius airframe.

Special-edition livery

A unique livery distinguishes the Valiant from a standard Gladius and pays tribute to pilot Condi Hillard.

Speed and agility

The Gladius earns its reputation through quick response and strong maneuverability, helping the pilot gain the initiative before the opponent can respond.

Single-seat response

Every flight and combat decision stays with one pilot, making the Valiant immediate to use but unforgiving of divided attention.

Light-fighter tradeoff

The Valiant does not carry heavy protection. Its pilot has to use speed and positioning to avoid taking sustained fire.

The Masters of Flight package in detail

The Valiant pairs the proven Gladius airframe with three pilot-controlled Size 3 guns and wing racks carrying two Size 3 and four Size 2 missiles. Its unique Masters of Flight finish and selected factory loadout are the reason to choose this edition over a standard Gladius.

Edition Fly the special package, not a storage variant

The livery and factory-selected dogfighting equipment are the Valiant's defining differences from the standard model.

Guns Keep three Size 3 guns together on the target

The pilot controls the complete direct-fire battery, so a short, focused attack is more effective than scattered snapshots.

Missiles Use the Valiant's two missile sizes deliberately

The mixed rack lets the pilot use lighter missiles against agile targets and retain the heavier pair for targets that justify them.

Flying the Valiant in close combat

The special loadout supports an aggressive light-fighter rhythm, but the pilot still has to protect the Gladius airframe with speed, positioning, and knowing when to stop pressing the attack.

  1. Use speed to take the initiative

Approach from a position that lets the Valiant turn its guns onto the target before the target can return fire.

  2. Work the tailored gun package

Keep the fighter moving while using the three Size 3 guns in short, deliberate bursts.

  3. Use missiles to limit the escape

Bring the mixed missile package into the fight when it can force movement or punish a predictable line.

  4. Leave before light protection becomes the problem

Create distance early when the exchange turns against you; the Valiant survives through movement, not by absorbing sustained fire.

The weapons, livery, and tradeoffs that matter

The Valiant earns attention through its commemorative finish and ready-made dogfighting package. Its small personal storage is useful, but it is not the reason to choose this variant.

01 Three Size 3 guns

Three Size 3 gun mounts give the Valiant a direct, pilot-controlled weapon package suited to short opportunities in a dogfight.

02 Mixed missile package

Wing-mounted racks carry a mix of Size 3 and Size 2 missiles, giving the pilot options beyond the nose-on gun attack.

03 Countermeasure system

Countermeasures support the fighter's evasive approach when missiles threaten to limit its movement.

04 Proven Gladius airframe

The special edition keeps the long-serving Gladius platform, valued for a straightforward design and dependable flight characteristics.

One pilot carries the whole fight

The Valiant is immediate and responsive because every system answers to one seat, but there is no second crew member to watch threats, manage weapons, or monitor damage.

One pilot manages the Valiant's commemorative dogfighting package

The pilot flies, fights, monitors damage, and chooses target priorities alone. The simple layout helps, but the pilot still has to watch the whole fight while aiming.

Pilot Fly and fight at the same time

Weapon use cannot come at the cost of speed control, threat awareness, or reading the next target.

Defense Movement is the main protection

Light shielding makes speed and positioning more reliable than trading damage head-on.

Turnaround Rearm the package you came to use

Guns, missiles, countermeasures, fuel, and damage all need attention before the next launch.
