This did not scale well and when it went down Star Citizen became essentially unplayable. It was therefore replaced with iCache (item cache). At this point Cloud Imperium Games has a much better idea of how the game works than when the legacy pCache was created, so they can design their item data and query schema to make the new system efficient and minimal, which will also help with stability and scalability.
