This Week in Star Citizen - August 24, 2026

CIG opened the week with Alpha 4.10 still getting a serious workout on the PTU. Last week, you and other testers were pulled into focused runs across Siege of Orison, Recco Battaglia, and Cargo Missions, with weekend access to the Kruger S-65 Stingray granted as a bonus for participating.

The team is continuing to shore up fixes and tighten the build across the board. So far, Alpha 4.10 has seen a whopping 230 Blocker, Critical, and High Priority fixes checked in, with more still on the way. If everything behaves itself, CIG is aiming to roll Alpha 4.10 out to Live this week. No pressure, then; just the usual job of nudging a giant space MMO through the airlock.

Ship Showdown 2956 is also deep into Phase 2, with the final duels approaching to decide the Elite Eight. Today, two Eclectic Exotics are trading shots for a chance to advance, while tomorrow the Big Hitters enter the ring for the final spot. CIG is reminding you to cast your vote if you want your champion to move forward, and daily voters who stick with the competition through the end will earn a commemorative Spectrum badge.

This year’s Ship Showdown celebration is being handled a little differently. With Alpha 4.10 heading toward Live, CIG wants the team focused on monitoring the release and continuing to improve the experience once it lands. As a result, the Ship Showdown Free Fly will focus on the existing community already in the ’verse. From August 26 to September 2, all existing backers will be able to take the Elite Eight for a spin before the Final Four move into the spotlight at Best in Show during this year’s Intergalactic Aerospace Expo.

Now, Let’s See What’s Going On This Week

On Wednesday, the Ship Showdown Elite Eight Free Fly begins for the existing community. CIG will also publish the latest Roadmap Update alongside its complementary Roadmap Roundup.

On Friday, CIG heads into Gamescom mode with the next Bar Citizen World Tour stop at BON - Brauhaus ohne Namen in Cologne, Germany, starting from 6:00 PM. Space is limited and attendance is first-come, first-served.

That same day, the weekly RSI Newsletter is scheduled to arrive in inboxes, and Jump Point magazine returns with its August issue for subscribers.
