Development
The Paul Steed was featured in the original Squadron 42 trailer in 2012. The vessel was originally conceived as the home ship for the 42nd Squadron.
Having not been mentioned since the early days of the project, it is not currently confirmed if the Paul Steed is still considered part of the canon of Star Citizen. Other significant changes have been made to the associated information. The role of home base for the 42nd Squadron appears to have since been transferred to either the UEES Krugeri or UEES Stanton. The vessel is said to be on mission in the "Vega Sector, Kurasawa System", terminology that does not match later development. While the "Vega Sector" appears in Wing Commander games, in the world of Star Citizen the term relates to the Vega system, there are no 'sectors', and the Kurasawa system (itself a reference to a favourite director of Narrative director Dave Haddock ) does not appear in contemporary maps of the verse.
The vessel was named for a former colleague of Chris Roberts, the artist Paul Steed.
