Q&A: RSI Salvation – Entry-Level Salvage Ship Answers

RSI’s Salvation steps into the 'light salvage' role with a clear mission: give you a clean, approachable entry point into the messy, metal‑chewing world of wreck recovery. If you’ve ever wanted to try salvage without jumping straight into a multi‑crew giant, this Q&A lays out exactly what the Salvation brings to the table.

The Vehicle and Gameplay teams answered a round of focused questions about how the ship works, what it produces, and where it fits in the salvage profession. Here’s everything they shared.

The Salvation is positioned as an entry-level ship in the Salvage career path. What key features make it an ideal starting point for aspiring salvagers?

The Salvation carries a dedicated salvage head built to gather Recycled Material Composite quickly and cleanly. It isn’t meant to compete with the heavy industrial platforms, but it gives you hands-on experience with both hull scraping and structural salvage fundamentals. While it can perform structural salvage, its small cargo footprint means that aspect isn’t its primary purpose.

What’s the Salvation’s total SCU capacity (including buffer), and is it large enough for profitable solo runs or better suited for group salvage operations?

The ship is tuned for solo salvagers entering the profession. It provides 6 SCU of internal storage plus an additional 6 SCU on its external cargo grid. This layout fits early-career missions well and lets you work small wrecks comfortably. Its agility also gives it some light utility in larger salvage groups, especially for hull scraping runs.

What types of construction materials will it produce, and what size ships can it structurally salvage?

As a Light Salvage platform, the Salvation recovers Rubble, a dense structural material with relatively low yield but fast refinement times. Since structural salvage isn’t its main focus, its upper limit for effective fracturing is wrecks roughly comparable in size to a MISC Freelancer.

Does it come with bespoke or swappable salvage heads?

The Salvation uses its own bespoke salvage head setup. The heads and scraper attachments are unique to the ship and cannot be swapped out for other variants.

How do players access the filler station?

The filler station is controlled directly from a cockpit screen. From there, you manage the flow and distribution of salvage commodity crates without leaving your seat.
