Billy Bob and the 85X
Howdy, spacefarers and stargazers! It’s Billy Bob here, comin’ at you from the orbitin’ fields of Pyro, where the stars are just as plentiful as the stories. Today, I’m tickled to share with you a little slice of my life aboard something quite unlike my usual rugged, roomy vessels—it’s a sleek little number called the 85x from Origin Jumpworks.
Now, you might be scratchin’ your head, wondering what a space farmer’s doing piloting one of the universe's snazziest small tourers. Well, folks, even a dirt-tender like me enjoys a dash of luxury and speed between the slower-paced rhythms of harvest cycles. The 85x, let me tell you, is a dream for quick jaunts across the system and zipping down to planet surfaces without firing up one of the bigger rigs.
This petite beauty might be small, but she’s more than just a pretty face. Designed as a luxury runabout, the 85x is a perfect companion for two, sporting an open cockpit that gives you and a buddy a front-row seat to the cosmos. It’s like riding a convertible through the heavens—wind in your hair, stars in your eyes, and all the universe laid out before you.
Origin sure didn’t skimp on the thrusters either. This craft handles like she’s part of you, responding to the controls with just a thought it seems. Darting through asteroid fields or weaving around space stations becomes less of a chore and more of a dance—a lively two-step that keeps your heart racing and your spirits high.
But it ain’t all just fun and games. The 85x has its practical uses too. She’s equipped with decent scanners for a ship her size, making her handy for a quick survey of the land or checking out what’s over the next moon. I’ve used her several times to scout new plots for expansion of the farm, pinpoint water sources, and even track down a few lost drones that thought they’d go on an unscheduled adventure.
One of my favorite memories with the 85x was taking her out on a clear night—well, it’s always night in space, but you get my drift—and flying over the rings of Yela. The way those ice particles sparkled under the ship’s lights, it felt like flying through a sea of diamonds. And right there, with not a soul around but us, it felt like the universe wasn’t such a big place after all.
Now, if you’re ever in the Pyro system and see a little speck zipping through the sky with a bit more pep than your average hauler, that might just be me and my 85x. Feel free to hail me on the comm—I’m always up for a chat or happy to show off the nimble moves of this fine ship.
So, whether you’re a farmer, a fighter, or just a wanderer in this vast galaxy, remember: it’s not always the size of the ship that makes the journey; sometimes, the smallest stars shine the brightest. And in my 85x, every star feels just a little bit closer.
