What to know
The RSI Arrastra combines remote mining stations, an onboard refinery, a vehicle garage, and comfortable living areas for crews working valuable deposits far from port.

Meet the Arrastra
The Arrastra combines mining, refining, vehicle support, and storage in one long-range ship. Several crew members can mine a deposit, process the ore aboard, and stay at the site longer before returning to port.

Development note: The Arrastra is currently in concept. Because Star Citizen remains in active development, specifications, features, and imagery may change over time.
Mine, refine, and store ore aboard one ship
Mining stations, an onboard refinery, a vehicle garage, cargo space, and living areas let the crew complete more of the job without leaving the deposit.

Crewed operator seats control powerful laser heads while a shifting upper and lower turret expands working angles around the ship.
Recovered ore can move directly into processing, reducing the need to break off a productive expedition for every load.
Ground mining vehicles extend the operation onto planetary surfaces and give the crew more ways to exploit a site.
A large cargo hold and comfortable living areas support several crew members working far from established mining routes.
A large cargo hold carries refined material, supplies, and equipment before the crew has to turn home.
A small crew can run the ship, while a full team can divide mining, refining, engineering, and cargo work between specialists.
Why the Arrastra works
The Arrastra's defining advantage is continuity. Multiple operators can work the deposit while the refinery turns raw ore into more useful cargo and the rest of the ship supports a longer stay in the field.

Create value before the return trip
Finish more of the mining loop before returning to port
The Arrastra connects prospecting, multi-operator extraction, onboard refining, vehicle support, and storage. Its advantage comes from keeping a productive crew at the deposit while raw material becomes something worth carrying home.

-
Find a deposit worth the trip
The crew checks the minerals, access, hazards, and likely value before settling the ship into a long working position.
-
Put several mining stations on target
Operators divide the deposit across the Arrastra's movable mining lasers while the pilot maintains position and the refinery crew prepares for incoming ore.
-
Process material aboard
The onboard refinery turns raw ore into more useful cargo and reduces how often the ship has to leave the site.
-
Return with a completed load
Storage, vehicle support, and habitation help the crew remain in the field until the journey back is commercially worthwhile.
Extract, refine, and keep moving
The Arrastra combines multi-station mining, internal refining, vehicle support, and large stores so a crew can exploit a site before returning to port.

Crewed mining stations and movable laser heads let operators spread their attention across a large deposit while the pilot holds the ship steady.
The onboard refinery means the crew does not have to leave a productive site every time raw ore storage fills.
A garage lets the Arrastra carry a ground vehicle and support mining work away from asteroid fields.
Large capacity and multi-crew living spaces support expeditions beyond the rhythm of short station-based runs.
Who the Arrastra is for
The Arrastra's crew connects scanning, laser operation, refinery control, cargo handling, and ship systems through one mining cycle.

Mining, refining, and shipkeeping share one schedule
The Arrastra is more than a large mining ship. Its crew must balance mining speed, refinery capacity, vehicle activity, cargo space, and the supplies needed for a long trip.
It rewards groups able to staff both extraction and processing instead of leaving half of the industrial chain idle.
Mining operators supply the refinery while engineers and cargo crew keep the ship running during a long stay at the deposit.
Mining lasers are only part of the job. Cargo space, refinery speed, vehicle support, and crew supplies determine how long the ship can stay.
