This Week in Star Citizen - July 20, 2026
Alpha 4.9 is live, Alpha 4.10 gets an early roadmap tease, live service maintenance is scheduled for July 21, and Bar Citizen heads to Denver on August 15.
Alpha 4.9 arrived last week, bringing a new arrival that has bashed its way into the hearts of the ‘verse, easier material scanning, and the first rollout of a revamped flyby audio system. More ships are set to receive updated audio in future patches, so your low pass may soon sound a little less like a polite vacuum cleaner and a bit more like trouble with thrusters.
The release also includes a broad set of fixes and quality-of-life improvements across missions, ships, and the UI, covering issues with docking, inventory, and several mission blockers. CIG says player feedback is still being worked through, with more fixes already in development.
Looking further ahead, last week’s Roadmap Update and Roadmap Roundup gave a first look at what is tentatively planned for Alpha 4.10. CIG also marked another stop on the Bar Citizen World Tour in Chicago last Saturday, thanking everyone who attended and noting that the next stop will be Denver, Colorado, on August 15.
This Week’s Flight Plan
On Tuesday, July 21, live servers will go down for scheduled maintenance starting at 12:00 UTC, with a few hours of downtime expected.
All gameplay systems will be unavailable for the duration, and you will not be able to access the game until maintenance is complete. Updates will be posted on the RSI Status Page as things progress.
CIG asks that you log out of the game and the launcher before maintenance begins.
This Friday, the RSI Newsletter makes its weekly run to your inbox with the latest from across the ‘verse.
Fly low, and fly fast!
