Max Keaton is best known for his discovery of the Charon system in 2538. Keaton discovered the system accidently after having his ships sensors disabled by intense solar winds while on a supply run to Helios. Upon regaining his sensors, Keaton realized he was well off course and began testing his ships other equipment leading to the discovery of the Charon system.

Upon regaining his sensors, Keaton realized he was well off course and began testing his ships other equipment leading to the discovery of the Charon system.
Upon discovering the system, Keaton became enthralled by the ice giant Charon IV leading to the systems namesake Charon (Kharon) from Greek Mythology. A nod to his grandfather, a classics professor at the University of the Rhetor.
