Star Citizen Vanduul Incursion Guide: Missions, Ranks and Blueprint Rewards
Intersec’s new Nyx contracts range from station raids to escalating Vanduul battles. Find the mission ranks, PTU access rules and rewards before assembling your crew.
Intersec has work for crews who would rather meet the Vanduul with weapons ready than wait for trouble to find them. The new Vanduul Incursion mission line in Nyx combines station clearing, ship boarding and battles that grow more demanding as the waves arrive. There are also new blueprints to chase once the harder tiers are within reach.
Updated 26 October 2026 for Alpha 4.10.3 PTU build 12999338. These missions are in testing and are not yet part of the Live game.
Getting access: the PTU skips the usual prerequisite
Most of the contract line is intended to follow the Vanduul Tech Smugglers work for Welcome To Nyx. That gives the encounters a place in Nyx’s progression rather than dropping every new assignment into a fresh character’s lap.
For the current PTU, however, all the contracts are available. This is a testing exception. If you see high-rank work before completing that earlier chain, it does not mean the prerequisite has been removed from the intended release design.
The current announcement lists Wave 1 access. Before arranging a session, make sure everyone in your group has the PTU channel and the same build available in their launcher.
The contracts, from station raids to Vanduul waves
The published ranks give a useful first view of progression, but the activities are not interchangeable. A boarding job demands a different sort of preparation from a sustained space battle, even when the same organisation provides both contracts.
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to read the assignment column.
| Contract | Listed rank | Assignment |
|---|---|---|
| Shattered Blade Raid | 1 | Clear Shattered Blade forces from auxiliary stations across Nyx. |
| Retake Ship | 2 | Board a vessel seized by the Shattered Blade and take it back. |
| Vanduul Clan Extermination | 4 | Fight escalating ship waves, with three difficulty tiers. |
| 3-Way Standoff | 4 | Enter a confrontation involving your side, the Vanduul and the Shattered Blade. |
| [redacted] Takedown | 4–6 | Fight through waves until the redacted target arrives; five difficulty tiers are listed. |
| Gather Vanduul Cryopod | Not specified | Recover cryopods from the field. |
The final takedown target is still a mystery in the official mission description. Its five tiers offer escalating versions of that encounter.
New space and FPS combat locations accompany the mission pack. Expect opposition including Blades, Glaives, Scythes and Stingers, with the exact mix varying by encounter.

Pick the job before picking the fleet
The higher difficulty tiers are designed for crews rather than solo pilots. That does not provide a fixed headcount or a mandatory ship recommendation. It does tell us that treating every assignment as a quick solo bounty would miss the intended spread of encounters.
For Retake Ship, boarding and fighting aboard another vessel are the point of the contract. A group built entirely around seats in single-seat fighters will still need a way to organise its boarding team. Station raids similarly call for attention to the ground side of the job, rather than assuming that winning the approach finishes the mission.
For Clan Extermination and the higher takedown tiers, the escalating waves make sustained combat the central consideration. As practical preparation, think about how the group will stay together and support damaged ships between threats. The objectives favour planning for a sustained fight rather than putting everything into the first attack.
3-Way Standoff adds a different complication: a second hostile faction is not a friendly wingman. The premise makes everyone a potential target. Keeping track of who is engaging whom should be part of the attraction, rather than expecting two enemy groups to solve the contract for you.
A small group and a large organisation can approach that mix differently. The useful starting point is the work everyone wants to do—boarding, piloting, turret work or recovery—not filling an arbitrary number of seats. Mission reliability, completion times and payouts still need to settle before there is a dependable route to recommend.
Blueprint rewards and the cryopod job
The harder tiers award blueprints for a new energy rifle, two heavy armour sets, a flight suit and new ship weapons. That is a broader set of reasons to return than a single trophy at the end of a chain. Exact blueprint-to-mission allocations and drop rates have not been published, so a particular contract cannot yet be treated as a guaranteed source.
Cryopod recovery is its own part of the mission line, and the update introduces a second pod variant. The patch notes describe the dead-occupant variant as more valuable and tradeable to Wikelo. For practical identification, use the item’s displayed identity and the applicable contract requirements rather than relying on a colour guide: the public feedback contains conflicting descriptions of the pod colours, and we have not independently resolved them.
Check which pod the contract or exchange asks for before committing cargo space to a recovery run.
Before you head out
Is Vanduul Incursion a Live event?
The version covered here is a new mission line in the 4.10.3 PTU. It should not be presented as a confirmed, time-limited Live event. A feedback survey closing on 15 November is a research deadline, not evidence that the missions themselves end on that date.
Do I need to finish Welcome To Nyx first?
Most of the line is intended to require its Vanduul Tech Smugglers work. The current PTU makes all contracts available for testing.
Can I play it solo?
The official guidance specifically places the higher difficulty tiers with crews. It does not establish a solo guarantee for every lower-tier contract. Choose the assignment for the activities involved rather than assuming its rank is a universal difficulty rating.
Are the rewards permanent account unlocks?
The announcement describes blueprint rewards. It does not establish that they are permanent website-hangar rewards or exempt from future progression resets. Do not treat the two types of ownership as equivalent.
