RSI Discovery Month Guide: Missions, Rewards and the Centaurus Rental
Defense, freight and industrial contracts bring permanent rewards across Stanton, with five days in the new Constellation waiting on a dedicated Transport mission.
Stanton has another reason to get moving. RSI Discovery Month brings combat patrols, supply runs and salvage work to the system, with rewards that let a cargo pilot or industrial crew contribute without abandoning the work they enjoy. At the centre of it all is the Constellation: the familiar Mk IV has been rebuilt, while the new Mk V Centaurus can be earned as a five-day rental through an event mission.
The event runs through 20 October 2026. Its missions feed three careers—Defense, Transport and Collection—and a fourth, shared progression track called Your Total. You can follow one career or move between them; points earned in a mission advance its category and your overall event progress together.
For the Centaurus rental: look for RSI Discovery Month: Constellation Rental Offer in the Transport missions. Completing that named mission grants five days with the Constellation Mk V Centaurus and its RSI Skylark snub fighter. The rental is temporary; the paints, blades, components and equipment earned through the reward tracks are permanent.
Where to find the work
Discovery Month takes place in Stanton. New RSI installations sit around Hurston, ArcCorp and microTech and their surrounding moons, giving deliveries and other event activity destinations across three planetary regions. Progress is recorded in the Journal in your mobiGlas, where Defense, Transport, Collection and Your Total each have four reward tiers.
Crusader still has missions, but it has no nearby RSI installation for this event. A contract there that requires an RSI drop-off sends you towards one of the other three planetary regions. That is worth noticing before accepting another delivery: starting near Crusader does not mean the hand-in will be nearby.

Transport: cargo runs, recovery and the Relay Race
The Transport track has the broadest mix of jobs. Ling Family Hauling, Covalex and FTL need goods brought to the expo platform from landing zones, distribution centres and low-orbit stations. Alongside that freight work are courier deliveries, recovery contracts and refuelling calls.
- Courier: deliver essential event supplies to the new RSI locations.
- Recover Item: locate cargo lost in transit or recover items taken by hostile forces. These contracts can involve ship or on-foot activity.
- Refueling: assist stranded ships.
- Hauling: move goods across Stanton for the organisations supporting the event.
- RSI Relay Race: transport golden Constellation Centaurus model boxes between designated locations.
- Constellation Rental Offer: complete the specifically named rental mission to unlock the five-day Centaurus and Skylark rental.
The Relay Race's golden boxes are cargo objectives. They are not the full-size ship reward, and the rental is tied to its own mission. Keeping an eye on the contract name will save a rather disappointing trip to the ship terminal after completing the wrong delivery.
There is room here for a quiet courier evening as well as a larger hauling operation. Choose the contract around the ship and people you have available: recovering stolen cargo may call for a very different loadout from carrying supplies between friendly installations. The event does not turn every Transport job into an unopposed delivery.
Defense: patrols above Stanton and fighting on the ground
RSI wants the approaches around microTech kept clear while visitors arrive. The Bounty Hunters Guild, Foxwell and Northrock provide work in space and on the ground, including caves, outposts and distribution centres.
For ship crews, Defend Ship means protecting a friendly vessel, while Patrol sends you through designated areas to investigate possible threats. The FPS contracts divide into three objectives: eliminate a specific target, clear hostile forces, or take on a group and kill its leader.

That distinction gives combat players a useful choice. A pilot who wants to stay in the cockpit can pursue the ship contracts; a group looking for an evening on foot can concentrate on hostile clearances and leader targets. All contribute to Defense and Your Total, so the reward system does not require everyone to enjoy the same kind of fight.
Collection: break hulls down or bring the raw materials
Industrial players have two routes into Collection. Salvage contracts ask you to fracture abandoned ships and recover construction materials for delivery to Lagrange points. Resource Gathering contracts involve gathering, refining and delivering Iron, Beryl and Quantanium to landing zones.
Shubin's demand covers raw and crafted materials for ship manufacturing, while Adagio wants hulls broken down for recycling. The event's salvage targets include Kruger Merlins, Archimedes and Constellations. Fracture capability and the requirements of the individual contract therefore deserve attention before departure: this is not simply a request to skim every wreck for surface material.

The delivery destination also changes with the work. Salvage construction materials go to Lagrange points; the named gathered and refined resources go to landing zones. A miner, salvage crew and hauler may all be helping the same celebration, but they are not following an identical collection-and-drop-off route.
Four reward tracks, with permanent equipment to keep
Each of the four tracks has four tiers. The rewards include ship paints, flight blades, components, armour, weapons and tools. Earned track rewards stay with you after the event; the five-day ship rental is the separate exception.

The component progression gives each career a different emphasis. Transport includes Grade B coolers at Sizes 2 and 3; Defense has Grade B power plants at those sizes; Collection has Grade B radars. The overall track begins with Size 1 Grade B components and reaches Size 1–3 Grade A power plants at its fourth tier.
Flight-blade rewards also differ by track: Zeus Mk II in Transport, Meteor in Defense and Mantis in Collection, with Aurora Mk II and Constellation Mk IV blades on the overall progression. The chart identifies these as handling-and-speed blades. Paints and equipment round out the tiers, including the overall track's armour rewards.
The ships pictured in the reward chart represent paint rewards, not permanent ship grants. Completing the rental mission does not turn the Centaurus or Skylark into permanent account-owned ships either. The attraction is a chance to fly the new pairing while working through rewards you can keep.
A few details before undocking
Can I stick to one career?
Yes. Category points also advance Your Total, so specialising still contributes to the overall progression. The other careers retain their own reward tiers; a Defense contract does not award Transport progress.
Where do I check my progress?
Open the Journal in mobiGlas and use the four event tracks. That gives you the distinction between progress in your current career and progress towards the shared rewards.
How long is the Centaurus rental?
Five days, including the RSI Skylark, after completing RSI Discovery Month: Constellation Rental Offer. The published event material does not specify a separate rental-start button or an extension rule, so do not assume the five days can be banked indefinitely.
Is the October 20 deadline the Mk IV retirement deadline?
No. October 20 closes Discovery Month. The separate Constellation Mk IV retirement window ends on 27 January 2027. Existing Mk IV ships remain part of the game and continue receiving development updates.
For an event built around one of Star Citizen's best-known ship families, the welcome surprise is how much of Stanton's working life fits into it. There are reasons to bring a fighter, a cargo hold or industrial equipment, and the overall track rewards the work whichever of those sounds like a good evening to you.
