Star Citizen Character Repair: When to Use It and What It Changes
A broken avatar can end a session, but the repair button is not always the answer. Check the current exceptions, what happens to your gear and the wait before returning.
Character Repair is a last resort for a broken player avatar, not a way to start over. It may help with a missing mobiGlas, a character stuck in terrain or certain loading errors after other troubleshooting fails. Check the symptom before using it: repair cannot be cancelled or reversed.
The 4.10.2 interaction bug to rule out first
If you log back into the Persistent Universe and lose mouse interaction along with access to doors, kiosks and other usable objects, do not run Character Repair for that problem. Alpha 4.10.2 lists this specific fault as having no workaround, and repair will not correct it.
Add details to Issue Council report STARC-212814, including how you logged out before the problem began.
Try the workaround that matches your symptoms
Stuck or crashing during character creation: restart the RSI Launcher, enter the game and change the display mode to Windowed in Options. Try character creation again. Once you have entered the ’verse, you can restore your usual display mode. Repair is the fallback if the other workarounds fail.
A missing head, invisible character, raised arm or missing mobiGlas: changing your appearance in character customisation and then entering the PU has helped some players. It may take another attempt; success is not guaranteed. These avatar faults are separate from the 4.10.2 mouse-interaction problem above.
Error 41070: first leave it for 10–15 minutes and try again. Before initiating any repair, another possible workaround is to join someone else’s party and have its leader enter the PU. This can sometimes get a stuck character moving without rebuilding its data.
Error 41013: repair can usually help, but it may temporarily make your personal hangar disappear.
What repair changes—and what stays lost
Repair returns you to your spawn point and moves equipped items into inventory. It does not reset Long-Term Persistence: aUEC, reputation, ships, vehicles and equipment are otherwise unaffected. Missing items, including pledge equipment, remain missing; Support cannot recover losses caused by this tool.
It cannot fix ordinary ship or vehicle bugs, duplicate ships, CrimeStat or lost cargo. A missing loaner is an exception: repair may help restore access to it. For misplaced equipment and item recovery, use our inventory and personal hangars guide.
Start the repair, then leave time for it to finish
- Try the relevant workarounds and report the problem, with reproduction steps, to the Issue Council.
- Sign in to your RSI account. Open Account Dashboard → Settings → Character Repair and follow its instructions.
- Wait at least one hour before logging back into the game, even if access returns earlier.
Give the process the full hour, even if you can log in after 15 minutes. Returning too soon can cause further account problems.
If the original problem remains after several hours, report it to the Issue Council. For persistent 41070 errors, add your last in-game actions, attempted workarounds and their results to STARC-172407. Include anything that did help, too: that information can make the report more useful than another error code alone.
