Star Citizen with Friends: Parties, Shared Missions and Comms
Your crew is ready, but the invitation or shared mission is missing. Get everyone connected, put the same contract in each player’s mobiGlas and choose how you want to talk before heading out together.
Playing together in Star Citizen starts with adding each other as contacts and forming a party. Sharing a contract is a separate step: one player accepts the job, shares it from the Accepted tab, and the others accept the invitation to that mission. Getting those three steps in place gives everyone the same objective to work towards.
You can arrange your contacts before launching the game, join a friend from the main menu or invite someone you meet in the ’verse. If you are still learning the journey from your hab to a first contract, our first-session guide covers those basics. Here, the next task is getting your group connected.
Add your friends before the flight
After you have entered the Persistent Universe at least once, the main menu’s Friends bar on the right provides a way to invite a friend. Use its Add Friends control to find the person you want to play with. Make sure you have added each other through the contact list; you can then join one another from the main menu.
If you are organising the session before opening Star Citizen, you can also search for a player and send a friend request through Spectrum. That is useful when you want your contacts sorted before everyone is ready to launch.
Already in the game? Add a player through the Personal Inner Thought menu, or find them in the server’s player list in your mobiGlas. Once they are in your contacts, open Commlink with the default F11 shortcut and select them to add them to your party.
Give the party the same contract
Choose the job together before accepting it. The contract’s destination, issuer, requirements and any time limit help you decide whether it suits the group. Read the description carefully: a bounty can target another player, while an Unverified contract may come from a questionable source. A familiar category name does not tell you everything about the task.
- Open mobiGlas with the default F1 key and select Contracts.
- Use the Verified or Unverified selector to browse available categories, then select a contract and read its details. Verified offers are available to eligible players within range; party members need not begin with identical lists of available jobs.
- Select Accept Offer. The job moves into your Accepted tab.
- While in a party, select that accepted mission and use Share at the bottom right.
- Each invited party member must accept the mission prompt. Accepted invitations place the job in that player’s own Contract Manager; a player can also decline.
Before setting off, check that the people joining the mission can see it in their own accepted contracts. Being on the contact list or aboard the same ship is not the sharing step. The mission-sharing system divides the mission rewards equally among party members when the mission is completed.
This is the ordinary shared-contract route. Server-wide event missions have their own objectives and participation conditions, so follow the particular event’s instructions rather than assuming a party invitation completes its requirements.
Choose how you want to talk
A microphone lets you use Star Citizen’s VOIP voice communications. A webcam is for FOIP facial-expression capture, so you do not need one simply to speak to your friends.
Pay attention to the channel you are using. With voice enabled on the current channel, players on that channel and within comms range can hear you. Local or general communication should not be treated as a private conversation just because you are standing beside a friend.
For a direct call, open mobiGlas with F1, choose the Comms menu and select Friends at the upper left. Use the call button beside the person’s name. Once they accept, the call opens in a Comms window; End Comm ends it. This gives you a clear way to contact one friend while you organise the session. To show facial tracking during the call, FOIP must be enabled and the camera calibrated.
When a friend’s invitation will not arrive
If a particular friend cannot contact you, check whether either of you has accidentally blocked the other. Star Citizen’s block tool removes that player from your friends list and prevents their friend requests, party invitations, text messages and voice communications from reaching you.
Only remove a block when you want to resume contact. In game, join the same server, find the blocked player’s handle in the mobiGlas Comms list, right-click it and choose Unblock Player. Alternatively, open Spectrum’s settings using the gear beside your profile picture, then choose Account Settings → Blocked Users and Unblock for that person. Re-establish the contact afterwards, since blocking removed the previous friendship.
Blocking limits communication; it does not prevent encounters or combat with that player in the ’verse. Keep an intentional block in place if you do not want contact, and report harassment through the appropriate support channel.
A party workaround for error 41070
Error 41070 concerns character data and can prevent entry into the game. RSI Support recommends first waiting around 10–15 minutes and trying again. It also records a workaround that sometimes helps: join another player’s party before entering the game, then have that party’s leader enter the Persistent Universe.
That workaround is specific to the character error and is not a guaranteed fix. If the error persists, use the dedicated error guidance before attempting character repair or changing your PC’s configuration. For a wider service disruption, check RSI Status rather than repeatedly changing your contact settings.
