This Week in Star Citizen: 5 October 2026
4.10.2 targets Live, Planet Tech V5 enters closed testing, and a new community Q&A joins the October development calendar.
Stanton is approaching another event as Alpha 4.10.2 moves towards its intended Live release. For the week beginning 5 October 2026, the immediate focus is getting that update into players’ hands, while the first closed test of Planet Tech V5 offers an early look at work intended for the Persistent Universe further ahead.
The development calendar also brings a new community show and a closer look at September’s work. The first episode of 10 From the Community opens a new round of questions and answers, followed by October’s subscriber update and a Wednesday set aside for the monthly report and roadmap.
4.10.2 approaches Live while Planet Tech V5 begins testing
Alpha 4.10.2 occupied the teams through the preceding week, with its Live release targeted for the week of 5 October. The promised update brings a new event to the Stanton system together with another round of fixes and improvements. Further build news is being shared through Spectrum.
Planet Tech V5 is at an earlier testing stage. Its first Evocati-only Tech Preview ran the week before this announcement, gathering feedback and performance data as an initial step towards bringing the new planetary technology into the Persistent Universe. Wider access is intended, but the announcement gives no date for it. The feedback and performance measurements from that first group will support the next stages of testing.
A new show, then questions for the professions
Monday 5 October brings the first 10 From the Community: Missions, Maelstrom & More. Senior Game Director Rich Tyrer, Creative Director Ian Leyland and Gameplay Engineering Director Karl Chandler take questions on the new flight model, Missions 2.0, Maelstrom, AI blades and other development topics.
The second question-gathering thread is already looking towards the future of professions available in-game, including mining, salvaging and crafting. For industrial players, the thread is a chance to ask how those professions will develop as work continues on the wider game.

A valakkar on film and four views from the community
The Community MVP for 5 October is AudreyHepburn’s Vacuum Rift – Episode 1 – Valakkar. This opening instalment uses Storm Breaker for a machinima featuring ship combat and an encounter with the valakkar.
The weekly MVP selection recognises one contribution submitted to the Community Hub. Its creator receives a Spectrum MVP badge and a permanent place in the Hub’s MVP section. Players can submit their own work for consideration, whether their interests lie in fan art, cinematics or video guides.
The four gallery selections are Grim Hex by KluntEastwood, log in by YBLI, Exploration by Critrockt and Search by Erbyn. The original weekly feature also opens with Taavi_Spectre’s Paladin Rocks image. Together with the MVP selection, they offer another reason to browse the Community Hub between the week’s reports and build updates.
