This Week in Star Citizen – December 15, 2025
Luminalia arrives, Alpha 4.5 launches, experimental VR hits PTU, and this week’s schedule rolls out.
The year’s nearly wrapped, but the 'verse isn’t slowing down for a second. Luminalia has kicked into full swing, bringing new courier missions and daily gifts for anyone willing to make the rounds. At the same time, the team is putting the final touches on Alpha 4.5 while players across the PTU have been diving headfirst into the surprise arrival of experimental VR support. It’s early, it’s rough around the edges, and it’s absolutely in the spirit of Open Development—your chance to try the tech and help shape what comes next.
If you’d rather keep your feet on the ground, the 2956 Daymar Rally is still taking sign-ups through January 3, and a custom CLX-built Star Citizen PC is up for grabs in the latest giveaway before the year ends. Plenty to keep you busy as things wind down.
Looking Ahead This Week
Alpha 4.5: Dawn of Engineering arrives this week, introducing the next evolution of ship management. A dedicated Engineering Gameplay Guide will drop alongside the release, giving you everything you need to get familiar with the new roles, systems, and mechanics.
The team also plans to close out the cycle with a fresh Roadmap Update, including a small Progress Tracker refresh as development eyes the next stretch.
Big thanks from the developers to everyone who jumped into the PTU to test and provide feedback. Engineering will continue to see tuning and iteration, so keep those reports coming.

Vision Quest Truth
Smuggling Origin 300
Two strange, atmospheric tales surface this week—half travelogue, half whispered myth. One follows a world called Pinecone, a poisonous main-sequence dwarf tucked deep along the green band’s fringe, dismissed by most and apparently home to lessons only a seasoned chief engineer can appreciate. The other concerns The Hive, a high-pressure coreless planet with a reputation for being equally overlooked until a hidden cache of Kr’Thak weapons and war machines was uncovered beneath its surface. The stories are fragmented, the voices unreliable, but the tone is unmistakable: the galaxy always has more going on beneath the veneer.
