Early life
His father was a painter then he started teaching painting, he taught his son a lot.
Kemp studied Graphic Design at the University of Georgia in Athens, where he went primarily because he could go there for free as long as he kept a B average, paid for by the state lottery. He didn't knew concept art was a profession until close to the end of his second to last year at university, He was drawing things for games and media he liked including Warhammer 40k figurines, he thought he would be a comic book cover artist or editorial illustration or graphic designer in order to live from his art. As soon as he saw concept art, he decided that's what he wanted to do.
After working on his portfolio, he got an internship at Factor 5 which was famous for making the Rebel Assault games, and which was recruiting interns to work on Lair.
