Ross Tregenza was Senior Sound Designer and Composer for Star Citizen.
Work for CIG
He worked for CIG between August 2015 and June 2017. He worked on the Music Logic system, which triggers dynamic musical cues based on the player actions during the game, allowing the musical score to change based on your actions and the situation. He also worked on Squadron 42 level ambient sounds, Battle-chatter.
Other work
He worked on music for Helldivers II, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cyberpunk 2077, Deathloop, Team Sonic Racing, Wolfenstain Young Blood, Dead Island 2, Timesplitters 2 and 3, Alien vs Predator, Crys 1, 2 and 3, Homefront the Revolution, Gears of War, Hotspot Racing, the aborted Star Wars Battlefront III and more. He also worked with Evolving Sound making music for trailers, such as for Raised by Wolves.
Early Life
As a kid aged 9 or 10 he was playing on the Commodore 64 and as he grew older he got into music, playing guitar with his dad and when he got his first Mac LC in the early 90s he would pull audio files from games such as Sim City to put songs together with a tracker, his first experience making music, already starting with games. He started getting into bands and trying to be on Top of the Pops in the 90s. While going a gig at a festival, he was presented a fan who turned out to be video game music composer Graeme Norgate who did music for Goldeneye and Timesplitters, so it turned out that Ross was a bigger fan of him than he was of Ross. He met someone who was a video game composer, who was a fan of his band while Ross was a fan of his game music. They started working together on Timeplitter games and eventually Ross joined Free Radical Design.
Trivia
- As a kid he told his parents he wanted a computer for his birthday, to which they said ok but that they won't spend a lot of money on it as he will get bored of it in a week's time and he will never play on it again. It has since become his whole life.
