Ship Upgrades, also known as Cross Chassis Upgrades (CCUs) is a system of IRL upgrading from one ship to another that allows to change a bought ship into another ship that costs at least as much while preserving all limited items, access passes and insurance levels. Ship Upgrades, also known as Cross Chassis Upgrades (CCUs) is a system of IRL upgrading from one ship to another that allows to change a bought ship into another ship that costs at least as much while preserving all limited items, access passes and insurance levels. Ship upgrades can be applied to ship packages and standalone ships.

Besides merely upgrading just from one ship to another, more importantly this also allows to progressively upgrade along a chain of ever larger ships, cumulating small discounts each time, and resulting in a noticable final discount.

In order to save money, the principle is to buy an initial ship discounted during a warbond, upgrade to another ship on warbond etc etc. This process can take thus take time and planning in order to maximize gains.

History

In the past a very complicated system of upgrades was maintained. It allowed only for upgrades between selected ships and created upgrade paths that resulted in different prices. It was changed in 2015.
